How to Store Your Motorcycle Properly (and Avoid Costly Surprises Later)

Tips from the JR Motorcycles team

Whether you’re putting your bike away for winter or taking a break from riding, proper storage is essential to keep your machine in top shape. A few simple steps now can save you a lot of hassle (and money) down the track.

Here’s one of the most important things you should do before parking your bike long-term:

🔧 Fill Your Tank & Add Fuel Stabiliser

Leaving your tank half-full can lead to condensation, which encourages rust inside the tank, not what you want! Before storing your bike, fill the tank right to the top and add a fuel stabiliser. This helps prevent the fuel from breaking down and clogging your injectors or carbs.

We recommend the Ipone Fuel Stabiliser. It’s easy to use, reliable, and we have it in stock at JR Motorcycles. Just pour it in before your last ride, run the engine for a few minutes to circulate it through the system, and you’re sorted.

🧼 Bonus Tip: Clean Your Bike Before Storage

Dirt, road grime, and bug splatter can damage paint and chrome over time. Give your bike a good wash and dry before covering it up — your future self will thank you.
