Before You Head Away
Once you've worked out where you're going, it's worth making sure the bike is ready for the trip too.
A quick check before leaving can save a lot of hassle on the road. Have a look over:
- Tyres and tyre pressures
- Oil and fluid levels
- Brakes
- Chain and sprockets
- Battery
- Lights and indicators
- General condition of the bike
If you're going a decent distance and the bike is nearly due for a service, it's usually a good idea to get it done beforehand.
Check Those Tyres
Take a good look at your tyres before a longer ride. Check the tread, pressures and look for any cracking, damage or uneven wear.
If they're getting close to the end of their life, replacing them before the trip is a lot easier than trying to find the right tyre when you're halfway around the country.
